Our 2025 bottle is the 8th Edition of 1st Special Forces Group (1st SFG (A)) Whiskey.

The 1st Special Forces Group Whiskey 8th Edition release has been hand-selected by HDC's Master Distiller, Dain Grimmer, and is a blend of Bourbon, Rye, and Single Malt whiskies aged in New American Oak.

Tasting Notes:
• Toasted oak & toffee nose with a very faint citrus note.
• Flavors start with a mild sweet clove followed by dry leather and tobacco on the mid-palate with a long single malt finish.

Mash & Blend Bill:
A Master Distiller's hand-selected blend of barrels aged 2 - 5.9 years

• 78.5% High Rye Bourbon (Aged 2 - 5.9 years)
• 19% Rye Whiskey (Aged 2 - 5.5 years)
• 2.5% Single Malt (Aged - 5.6 years)

About 1st Special Forces Group Whiskey: 

Inactivated in 1974 as part of the post-Vietnam drawdown and strategic pivot to the Cold War in Europe, 1st SFG(A) was called back into action in 1984 in response to rising instability in Asia.

After forming at Fort Bragg, NC, the 1st Battalion deployed to Torii Station, Okinawa in March 1984, while the Group HQ, 2nd and 3rd Battalions and Group Support Company formed at Fort Lewis, WA. The 1st Battalion quickly began deploying throughout the Asian-Pacific and was followed by the 2nd and 3rd battalions the following year. 

Since reactivation, the 1st  Special Forces Group (Airborne) has served as the vanguard of U.S. strategic efforts in Asia while contributing significantly to America’s combat and contingency operations throughout the globe.

This whiskey is a salute to the 1st Group members who were part of reactivation and to the 1st SFG(A) warriors who, from the unit’s birth in 1957 to the current day, have given the last full measure of devotion.
