“The idea for Hood Canal Highland Celtic Festival came about at a family bbq at the home of Tom & Sue McDonald. Every year Tom and Sue hosted a bbq for friends and family. Tom realized it was growing into a bigger event each year it had already outgrown his back yard. He wanted an event that was family friendly with a festive beer garden element that included traditional Celtic music and vendors. The HOOD CANAL HIGHLAND CELTIC FESTIVAL was born.
Tom went to the state to see where a location would fit his vision. The first annual festival was held at Theler Community Center in Belfair, Washington. By the third year the festival had outgrown the community center and was moved to its current location at Belfair State Park and where it has been held for the past 2 years.
2016 marks the 6th annual Festival and we are dedicating this years festivities to our founder Tom McDonald who has moved on to his new adventure in heaven. Tom was our rock and his sons Bill and Troy and his lovely wife Sue are taking over the reins of the Hood Canal Highland Celtic Festival.
With the help from a wonderful group of amazing and talented volunteers we are continuing he legacy.
It’s amazing what we can do when we come together.”
