We are well into fall and tailgating season and it’s time to make sure your tailgate parties are championship material!
First off, you need to come up with a game plan. A great tailgate party cannot be thrown together last minute. It’s helpful if you can get people to rsvp. Plan food for 25% more than the number of people who said they’re coming. You’d be surprised how many hungry friends and friends of friends will stroll by. When putting together your plan, think about the basics:
In each category pick foods best served at room temperature, although a small portable grill can be fun. Just remember to cool it down a good 45 minutes before you head to the stadium. Since it is fall, it’s always fun to include some seasonal favorites on your menu: pumpkin cookies, apple cider, and apples with caramel dip are great choices.
Another tip I have learned from experience- choose foods that are portable! Sometimes you’re having so much fun you lose track of time and have to run off to the stadium, food in hand.
The most fun part of the plan is coming up with some easy game day cocktails. And when I say easy, I mean super easy! Gather up your favorite whiskey, gin and vodka because people need options (we recommend our Batch No. 12 series). Then, grab some cute buckets or bowls and fill them with ice. In the buckets put single serving cans of your basic mixers: oj, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, apple juice, ginger ale. Set out a stack of team colored cups and let people get creative.
Have fun planning your party! (and CHEERS to your favorite team)
